The Massachusetts Department of Public Health established the Community Health Network Area (CHNA) effort in 1992. Today this initiative involves all 351 towns and cities through 27 Community Health Networks. You can find out more information about CHNAs through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health homepage, including a mission statement, geographic configuration, and contact information. Just visit the link below. Massachusetts Department of Public Health - The Blue Hills Community Health Alliance (CHNA20) covers Braintree, Canton, Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, Milton, Norwell, Norwood, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate, Sharon, and Weymouth. Like CHNA12, the mission of the Blue Hills Community Health Alliance is to improve the overall health of local residents through increased coordination and delivery of existing services, expanded community action, and the mobilization of community resources. Their current focus is alcohol abuse; by working together, the alliance hopes to vastly improve the community's capacity to prevent and treat alcohol abuse.
